MEET THE TEAM

THE BIG DAWG

Hey, y’all – it’s the Big Dawg. A little about me: I hail from one of New York’s five boroughs (Rochester), so yes, that makes me a transplant… but I’m one of the good ones – I swear! Barely graduated high school, had less than zero interest in college, but I love people and both wheeling and dealing, so found my calling in sales. Starting at a kitchen cutlery company, I “cut my teeth” and rose through the ranks, closing millions in deals by my mid-20s. When covid hit, I traded the #corporatelife for #vanlife, traveling the country in my trusty steed, a 1989 Ford E-250 Econoline conversion van, affectionately referred to as Frank the Tank.

For a few years, I was all over the place, both literally and figuratively, but before moving to Palm Bay, I tackled another crazy dream: walking cross-country from Key West to San Diego.

That journey taught me lessons beyond what a few words in a bio section can properly articulate, but I pour them into The Dawg Pound, my sauna and cold plunge business, which is… yet another crazy dream.

Picking up on some themes here?

I’m on a mission to help you unlock your potential, and to create a community of like-minded individuals who want the same. “Recovery and wellness” is simply the vehicle being used in the pursuit of that (but don’t let me downplay contrast therapy and the other modalities we offer – it’s life-changing stuff).

Swing by The Dawg Pound to check out some mementos from the Long Walk, and experience the hottest air and coldest water this side of northeast Palm Bay. The Tank is still my daily driver as well, so you might spot me around town. If you mistake it for a meth lab on wheels, you’re forgiven.

If we haven’t already met, I look forward to connecting!

Some folks have a favorite towel, bring water, a book, their laptop to get some work done post-sauna, etc.

If all you walk in with is a bathing suit or extra pair of shorts, though, you're good to go - we've got everything else covered.

Try any of our four Tru Grit cold plunge tubs, all running between 37°F and 50°F.

Everyone's different - if you talk with ten fans of the modality, you might hear ten different "perfect" temps. Tinker, push yourself, find out what works best for you - but keep in mind that like drinking, you'll also build a tolerance over time.

"Sitting in cold water doesn't sound like fun - are there health benefits?"

Why, we're so glad you asked. Immersing yourself in chilly water can torch inflammation, reduce joint pain, speed up muscle recovery, boost circulation, improve sleep, and even spike your mood with a natural dopamine hit (think runner's high, but... a lot colder).

In addition to helping with stress management, it's also a great way to train your mind, as breathing through the initial shock builds grit and calms your nervous system.

Each tub is kept sparkling clean with top-notch filtration and sanitization, so you can focus on the moment, not the logistics, and sessions are self-guided (but we're always nearby if you need help or simply just want to activate Cheerleader Brady).

New to this? No sweat, and no pun intended. Start with a quick 30-second dip and work your way up. Pair it with our infrared sauna and you'll immediately understand what the buzz is all about!

Our Finnleo GS840 infrared sauna (a cozy 4-5-seater) is still kickin' ass and takin' names, and boy, oh, boy - if you want a good sweat, you've come to the right place.

Our infrared setup uses gentle light waves to heat your body directly, penetrating muscles and joints for a sweat sesh that feels more like a warm hug, rather than the "punch-in-the-face" heat style of a traditional sauna.

Expect temps between 120°F and 140°F - the sweet spot for melting stress, easing sore muscles, boosting circulation, reducing inflammation, improving heart health, and helping you sleep like a rock tonight. Science loves it: it's like a detox and mood-lift all in one.

And no one wants to sit in a musty, dark, dank sauna room (shoutout *insert big-box national gym chain here*), so we regularly clean ours with our members in mind. Please assist us in that effort by sitting on a towel when you're in the sauna. If you didn't bring one, no worries - we have plenty of extras.

As you can probably tell, there's quite a few crossover health benefits from the sauna to the plunge - it's why they often go hand-in-hand. Cycling between the hot and cold (typically 10-15 min hot, then 1-2 min cold, repeated 2-3x) is what they call contrast therapy.

Wanna give it a try? Hit that "Book Now" button!

Whether you'd like a single-session Dawg Pound Day Pass (DPDP) or to make contrast therapy a part of your daily routine... or somewhere in-between - we've gotcha.

DPDPs start at $29 and include use of the sauna, cold plunges, compression boots, stretching and mobility equipment, etc.

Many comparable businesses only work out of 30-60-min time slots, whereas our day pass is good for exactly that - the day. If you want to stop by in the morning and get some work done, then swing back later in the evening for a second session, you're more than welcome to do so. That's the power of the DPDP, bb.

Memberships? Packages?

We offer both!

Memberships are: recurring, give you the best bang for your buck, custom-built to your schedule and goals, and come with added *perks.

*Guest passes to bring friends or clients, priority booking, discounts on add-ons and merchandise, exclusive member offers, and much more.

(*Ask about the Dolphins' season tickets raffle...)

(Our most popular membership costs ~$5/day and pays for itself after only a few sessions.)

Packages are: pay-as-you-go bundles (5, 10, 20, or more) with no recurring commitment, and sessions never expire.

Both options provide the flexibility to fit within your wellness routine, while also saving over single-use day passes.

I mean, it is called "The Dawg Pound," right?

The Official Answer is: "yeah kinda probably, ask Brady first."

My lil girl and TDP's mascot, Bella (doberman/lab), is usually here and good with both dogs and people. If you've never met her before, she'll probably bark and act tough (she isn't) at first, and in her next breath, she'll be your best friend.

If you want to bring your furry friend while you get your cold plunge on, it's good practice to text/call ahead and ask.

It's mostly a feel. If the place is bumpin' and things are hectic, it might not be the best time - but if it's quiet and you're the sole dawg in, the more the merrier!

You are, of course, responsible for the actions of your dog(s).

So, for the safety and well-being of everyone involved in mind, with common sense as the foundation, hopefully this policy stays open-ended and cool.

(Service animals are always welcome.)
